Don't take me for being an ingrate or nothing. Note: If you initially refuse and later change your mind, deciding to help the village, you get both sets of approval changes. See notes below. Note: If you kill Owen you can still equip the villagers; take the Bundle of Equipment from the trapdoor and give it to Murdock. Note: This quest cannot advance without accepting Owen's task or killing him.

Note: Dwyn also is involved in the companion quest for Sten. See The Sword of the Beresaad for details. Note: During the battle Dwyn and his men will fight beside the knights and not the militia. If you did not loot the locked chest in the back room before the battle then it is now unlocked you no longer require Dwyn's Lockbox Key to open it.

Note: If you told Bella you would help her and you intimidated Lloyd into giving you the tavern, when you talk to Bella after the battle you will have the option to give her the tavern. If you choose the "I didn't say for free Note: Murdock will remark favorably on this after it has been done, but will not bring up the possibility himself.

Note: During the battle Berwick will fight besides the knights and not the militia. Note: The option to tell Ser Perth or Murdock that you are ready becomes available only after the Warden talks with Owen and either accepts his quest or kills him as well as completes the task given by Ser Perth.

Subsequently the rest of the options to further improve Redcliffe's defences are optional. Note: Be sure to report back to each quest giver, Murdock or Ser Perth, to complete each sub-quest and receive experience points. Cancel Save. I don't think that you can leave Redcliffe without at least fighting in the attack of that night, without having the villagers killed, because I had simply arrived at Redcliffe, had the guard at the path take us to the Arl in the chantry, and immediately left after that.

As we left, the guard said we might not find them alive upon returning, though I did choose the dialogue choice that said we would return. As I proceeded to the mage's tower, I got a part of the vid that shows the approaching darkspawn above the village, so I almost considered turning back at that point, but thought that I might still be able to return in time… So I would guess that it is scripted so that you must at least fight in that battle before leaving if you want to save the village.

Mmmm… Then I wonder if the village stays safe for the remainder of the game…. To my knowledge, once you've spoken with Bann Teagan, if you leave the village you abandon it to its doom. And if you return later, the village is ruined, though the castle remains. Yes, that is what I said. So you cannot enter and leave Redcliffe without fighting that battle, if you want the villagers saved. The buildings are not ruined, btw, the village is simply empty of people except for a single scavenger, and Bann Teagan himself, whom you manage to revive in the chantry.

He then shows you a secret way into the castle, and you can take the fight from there. I thought it was the soldier that greets you on the bridge as soon as you enter the area. What that Bann? Can't recall. He is the one that pleads that you stay if you attempt to map out.

Hmm, now I'm curious once more… I can't remember if you start talking to Bann in that cutscene, I suppose you could simply refuse to speak to Bann, and simply just leave the area after cutting any dialogue short. I admit I had spoken to Bann Teamon before leaving. Posting Rules You may not post new threads. The time now is Go play Fable or something, where butchering villages does nothing.

Luckily I had progressed Sten's personal quest enough to talk to the Dwarf for his sword, and got the Blackstone irregulars quests that needed people in Redcliffe out of the way before the town was overrun.

However, now that the town was wiped out, the Mages Collective representative, the Chantry Board, and the Blackstone representative don't show up in town, and there are certain sidequests that don't seem to show up at other locations. Plus, I assumed the dead blacksmith would be replaced by the other one, but that didn't seem to happen either. So let's see, choosing not to help Redcliffe means: 1. Lose out on all the experience and loot from the night fight.

Potential rewards for keeping people alive 3. Lose out on experience just from doing the preparation tasks I assume you get XP for those 4. By pimpzuun - Tue Nov 24, pm. I thought about going to redcliffe to unlock blood mage but I seem to be in a sort of moral dilemma. I had assumed that I need to help the villagers repel the undead attack to gain access to the castle to eventually confront the demon possessed boy. But when I say I will help, Morrigan and Sten start getting all fussy saying "why are we helping them?

Anyway, my question is if I don't help the villagers and let them all get killed, can I still get into the castle and eventually get to the fade to unlock blood mage?
