Can you please explain the movie thing? Thanks for any help. Can you please explain the movies thing? It runs okay but no cutscenes play. Any help would be appreciated. Yes I did. Re-enable cutscenes in the config and then it should all work fine! My issue seems to be the game not starting up at all.
As the maker of this helpful guide says, you must be one of the unlucky ones, just like me. Try changing the names of the intro movies and go through the config to disable hardware acceleration. I followed your steps, and it all worked fine until I had to leave Dantooine for the first time, and now it crashes whenever I try and leave. Any ideas? It was working just fine for me until I arrived on Dantooine and then it keeps freezing up and crashing.
Is there any way to fix this? Had the same problem ages ago, try disabeling sound until you finish that level. I just wanted to thank you for this info. Your fixes worked excellently and took less than 5 minutes.
Thanks so much for making it easy! Hey, so I changed the names of the movies biologo, lelogo, legal , but the game still crashes when I load it up unless I disable all movies. I know those are the correct files because when I use the original filenames the movies play. Thanks a ton! Thanks again. Do you have a similar post for kotor 2? The game starts, but no intro, no cutscenes, no nothing. Everything works but for some reason I cant read the options in the main menu so I have to guess when I click which I dont mind but also, I cant read the dialog options with my character In-game.
I have been able to play it on windows 7 before but now it crashes every time I try to open it. This method does work but be careful! Thx for the help, add this if needed.
Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Fantastic work! I wonder why the opposite expertts of this sector do not notice this. You must continue your writing. Worked like a charm, thank you so much. What is weird is when I first installed it and opened it up it worked fine but the second time I tried to open it it got stuck in not responding land. I did the steps you put up here and I am back on Telos, and with sharper graphics lol thanks again!! I think this is among the moszt important info for me.
And i aam glad reading your article. Buut should remark on some general things, The website style is wonderful, tthe articles is really excellent : D. Good job, cheers. In addition, many of the words used started to take on slightly different meanings, depending on the context in which they are used. I was going crazy because i coulnt run Kotor 2 on my Windows8. OK, I screwed up. I did the patched. Someone in the comment above told me to do it hahaha….
Now my Steam sourced Kotor requested for cd…. How can I fix this? If you have any save games, be sure to back them up! None of these worked for me. I did all the steps and still not working. So disappointed, was so looking forward to playing this.
So I played with my. As long as I keep the game in this format, it will play any cutscene, or you can click through any cutscene, which was the big shutdown for me before. After you pass a cutscene, you can then right click the top of the window, and maximize, and it will bring you full screen. After that, you just have to right click on your mouse to bring the cursor back into the game.
Extra information Step 1 Before the correct configuration Make sure that u run the swconfig. After that start the exe and do the same like me showed on the picture Done!
But not finished. In the main game folder u wlll find the swkotor. Check yours and copy my settings. And te main thing.. Dont forget to save it! This is an important thing If u dont do it, this can broke the game as well U need to disable the steam overlay in the game.
Right click on the game in steam Now disable the overlay Use the max resolution what is available. If u dont use hardware mouse and disabe video intro only.. If u still have the problem Enable this future. MaxtorMeow did posted me som other thing.. After receiving it from SecuROM, anyone who wants to post a download link to one of the updated. They are not as easy to find as the patches. Extract the archived file to the main game folder after either renaming the old one or moving it elsewhere.
Don't overwrite the old one. You may need it later. Then right-click on it, select "properties", then under the "compatibility" tab set it to run in XP SP2 compatibility mode as an administrator. While you're at it, it wouldn't hurt to set the launcher. The file is located in your root file, which is where you put the mss This is as easy as right-clicking swkotor2.
If windows says, "Windows cannot create a shortcut here, would you like on placed on your Desktop instead? Not doing so will cause the game to randomly crash. This can be done by modifying the game's shortcut to command Windows to automatically set affinity every time the game is launched: Note that Windows 7 seems to do this for KotOR 2 already without any modification, but not for KotOR 1.
Before launching the game, open Task Manager right-click on the Taskbar at the bottom of Windows' desktop and select "Task Manager" and click on the "Processes" tab.
Check the "Show processes for all users" box if it isn't already and then launch the game. Once you get to the game's main menu, hit the Windows key to get back to the desktop and look for the game's executable swkotor2. When you find it, right click on it, select "set affinity" and uncheck every box but "CPU 0" and hit "OK". Once you've done that, just hit the game's icon in the Taskbar and you should be good to go. Remember that you'll have to set CPU affinity like this every time you launch the game.
This should be done with both games. If, for any reason, you want to disable the fix, simply change the "1" to a "0". After applying the changes, save and exit then go back into the file to make sure that the changes were saved.
If they weren't, move the swkotor. Save it, exit, go back in to check and see if the changes were applied, then move it back to the game's main folder. Look for "Flipping Policy" and change it to "Blit". Note that you might have to download and install Intel's drivers instead of using the ones that shipped with your laptop for the Intel graphics driver control panel to be accessible. NOTE: The newest drivers don't have this option, so if you can't do it, don't worry about it.
How to open the graphics properties window OpenGL settings guide If the game still crashes right after character creation after completing the installation, try using the the original. If that doesn't work, there is a link in Step 6 that will allow you to contact SecuROM and request a new.
